As you enter small CD store Brill, located in one of the most inconspicuous buildings in this part of Clerkenwell, you’ll find yourself in the middle of classic and contemporary rock, new and old soul (from Al Green to Corinne Bailey Rae), reggae, pop and eclectic jazz, all in between the fair trade coffee and Brick Lane bagels. Coffee, bagels and plenty of records give Brill that kind of Manhattanesque feeling of strolling around Greenwich Village sipping coffee whilst expanding your music collection. - Evelien Devogel
At a small festival in Oxfordshire last summer, I found myself sitting by the main stage watching one uninspiring act after the next – not even Johnny Flynn managed to ignite excitement from the crowd. As day turned to night and festivalgoers slowly migrated to the dance tent far too early, onto the stage came an unlikely trio. A red lipped, piano playing blond in brightly coloured preacher’s robes; a cross-dressing, base playing, Freddie Mercury lookalike; and a shy, grungy drummer. After a brief introduction, Izo FitzRoy and The Royal Bastards launched into their set. The crowd swelled as the soulful energy pulled the bored and hostile audience onto its feet and drew the crowds back from the dance tent. When the weekend drew to a close, The Royal Bastards were crowned festival Kings.

Here’s some more photographs for y’all of our shoot with the West Coast lovin’ Dirty Laundry Vintage. Our friend Kat took some time out from working in a gallery, modelling for Sassoon and drawing illustrations for Rookie to model for us. Let us know what you think, we love to hear your thoughts. X
These photographs were mostly shot on an old Olympus OM10 with a manual adaptor and a lights of my own invention (a ladder, halogen lights and G-clamps) to bring out some grain and a grungy finish. Evelien shot the makeup for one look coming together and we edited it all in to a nice home video for everyone to see. We hope you liked the results. -MH-M

LONDON FASHION WEEK EXCLUSIVE
We were down at #LFW last week and got bored of taking pictures of people. So we decided to take pictures of people taking pictures of people to mix it up a bit. If someone happened to take a picture of me at this point, then they’ve got a picture of someone taking a picture of someone taking a picture of someone.
Forget fashion. That’s some introspective shit.

I had intended to write an article about Parallel Universes for a gallery in Bristol. Unfortunately I haven’t had time to finish the piece.
I made these two images were to illustrate the concept of metaphysical and physical incongruities in a metropolis such as London. This was what the article was on, drawing on Michel Foucault’s concept of the heterotopia.
Soon, when I have more than half a day off I’ll finish the article to go with the images..
